I'm a Head Issue

Hello TBI enthusiasts my name is Bacon, I have the privilage of being born both left handed and dyslexia. So the way i take it my brain has switch direction more than an old compass. I told myself has your brain been through enough?! nope not enough! "I want to go to Iraq where I can be blown up."

So years later was on Facespace and saw that not many outlets to either show off theraphy art for survivors or a TBI, or to vent/ fun release from the pressures of thinking in general.

SOME HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A TBI IS

A TBI, or traumatic brain injury, is a serious condition that occurs when the brain is damaged by a sudden impact, such as a fall, a car accident, or a gunshot wound. A TBI can affect various aspects of a person’s cognitive, physical, and emotional functioning, depending on the severity and location of the injury. Some common impairments caused by a TBI include memory loss, attention problems, speech difficulties, vision problems, headaches, fatigue, mood swings, and depression.

Dyslexia, as we discussed before, is a learning disorder that affects reading and writing skills. Dyslexia can cause difficulties with phonological awareness, word recognition, spelling, comprehension, and fluency. Dyslexia can also affect other areas of learning, such as math, science, and foreign languages. Dyslexia can impact a person’s self-esteem, motivation, and academic performance.

Left-handedness, on the other hand, is not a disorder or a disability. It is simply a preference for using the left hand over the right hand for tasks such as writing, drawing, or throwing. Left-handedness is determined by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, and it is not a sign of lower intelligence or poor health. However, left-handed people may face some challenges in a world that is mostly designed for right-handed people. For example, they may have trouble using some tools, instruments, or devices that are made for right-handed use. They may also experience some discrimination or stigma from people who associate left-handedness with negative traits or superstitions3.

Therefore, the handicaps associated with a TBI, dyslexia, and left-handedness are different in nature and degree. A TBI is a serious medical condition that can cause significant impairments in various domains of functioning. Dyslexia is a common learning disorder that can cause difficulties in reading and writing, as well as other areas of learning. Left-handedness is a normal variation of hand preference that can pose some minor inconveniences or challenges in a right-handed world. However, none of these factors should prevent a person from achieving their goals and living a fulfilling life. With proper diagnosis, treatment, support, and accommodations, individuals with a TBI, dyslexia, or left-handedness can overcome their challenges and thrive.

As you can see my mind is jacked up, but perhaps brought an artistic side of me out.

I Look forward to engaging with the outside world, either in print or entertainment. 😊
